Welcome to the NPS Unit Project web site. This site provides a wealth of statistical information about the more than 400 units that comprise the National Park Service’s portfolio across the nation. This data has been accumulated and assembled over the course of more than two years by a three-person team of former NPS employees. Originally compiled for a specific purpose at the request of a research group, the data is now being made available to the general public.

Much of the data here is publicly available, but not in a form that allows the average person to compare and contrast the various units. About half of the data is not currently available on a public platform.

You are welcome to make whatever use of this material you wish, subject to the restrictions on the ABOUT page.

You can keep your eye on this page for updates about the project itself. As more data is added to each document, an update will be posted on the relevant page, along with a list of what updates were made. Older versions will remain as well so the user can have access to the historical data.
